Hi. My name is Kevin.
A few yearr ago (after years of living in tiny studio apartments and working as an architect in Washington, DC)–I sold off most of my worldly possessions and moved to New York City to go to grad school (and live in/design the tiniest studio apartment ever on a shoestring budget).
On a whim, in 2009, I entered apartmenttherapy.com’s Smallest Coolest Competition and I WON the Teeny-Tiny Division!
A lot of buzz ensued over my tiny 210 sf apartment…. like a lot, a lot. It made me realize that there are a ton of people like me out there–living in small spaces and making the best out of them without a lot of funds.
I’ve since moved on to a bigger (350 sf) studio, but I’m still trying to make the most out of my space (on a budget).
In this blog I’m going to share with you some of the inspirations, successes, and failures that I encounter both while designing my own apartment and while helping friends with their design problems. This site is all about living well within your home’s design budget. We’ll be exploring how to get designer looks to customize a home using ingenuity, thrifty resources, and a little sweat equity.
I hope you enjoy it.
